Shakespeare's Warwickshire Tragedy

"We have just heard that Broadview are now beginning to gather together their weaponry to launch an application of 5 turbines and an ugly latticed mast. They are holding a pre-application exhibition on the 8th December in a little village hall down here in Warwickshire.

Two of us (artist and photographer) have just produced a pre-application video to bring home the very deep passion and connection that we have to where we live in Shakespeare Country."

Countryside under Assault

Land at Stoneton/ Wormleighton, to be destroyed if the plan goes ahead.

The tiny and historic village of Wormleighton is under assault, and with a population of 80 they do not have many voices to protest about the destruction of their environment, firstly by the HS2 Train-line and secondly by plans for 13 x 120 m high turbines. This plan is being proposed by the Spencer Trust who own the surrounding land, and EDF, the French Energy Group.

"Say No to the Starbold Wind Farm"

Here is a link to the website of the group fighting 5 x 400ft turbines in the Warwickshire countryside. These turbines would be visible from the Cotswolds as well, and the website has some excellent photos of the countryside that could be blighted if this proposal goes ahead.

We were sent the link by a campaigner, whose message included these words:

"Our nations iconic art is so firmly rooted in our unique pastoral landscape and to see it being ravaged by aggressive developers in what can only be described as a Wild West atmosphere is utterly depressing.
All power to your brush!"
